Never understood flack Gundam (both UC and SEED) get about prototypes that do not suck... because there are prototypes and prototypes. Gundam prototypes in general are pre-production and showcase models. Of course they are better than even later production models that were "trimmed" for cost efficiency.
They also in general equal or worse than next generation mass-production units too...
